Israela has more than 20 years experience as an attorney, mediator, facilitator, trainer, ombud and consultant. In 2015 she launched her company, Fixerrr – the 3 r’s stand for rethink, respond and resolve – to provide independent ombuds services, mediation, facilitation, training and consulting to individuals, groups and organizations.

Israela provides independent ombuds services to multiple organizations and serves as the inaugural faculty and staff Ombud at Wesleyan University and Clark University, and as the Ombud for The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Since 2003, Israela has taught negotiation (including negotiation with a culture and gender lens), conflict management, mediation, ombuds skills, healthy workplace, bias and inclusion to clients including the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Tufts Women in Medicine and Science, the Rhode Island School of Design, MIT, Takeda Pharmaceutical, MindEdge (a Harvard and MIT founded Higher Learning Initiative), the University of Maryland Graduate School and the American Bar Association. As Senior Affiliated Faculty in the Communication Studies Department at Emerson College, since 2012 she’s taught courses in Mediation, Conflict and Negotiation and Introduction to Law.

In 2002 Israela created New England’s first federally funded Agricultural Mediation Program for which she received a Managing for Results Initiative Award from the Commonwealth Massachusetts. She is a contributing author to “Mediation: A Practice Guide for Mediators, Lawyers, and Other Professionals” (MCLE, 2013).
